Microsoft is finally ready to give Windows Recall a try

Microsoft has The public test of the much talked about Windows Recall feature has finally begunafter months of delays. The new preview version of Windows 11 (26120.2415) is now available in the Dev Channel for Insiders, allowing owners of a Copilot+ PC with a Snapdragon processor (such as the new Surface Pro that you can find on Amazon) to try Recall.

This release marks an important step forward for Microsoft, which has been working to improve Recall’s security after initial concerns. The feature now works hard to encrypt all captured data, making it inaccessible to third-party apps and users. Additionally, it requires Windows Hello and is turned off by default.

Windows Recall is an exclusive function of Colpilot+ PCs

Microsoft points out that the data collected by Recall is visible only to the user and are not uploaded to the cloud, used to train AI models, or sold to third parties. The company invites researchers and the security community to test the new protection and privacy measures.

Oltre a Recall, this preview also includes Click To Doa new AI overlay feature announced last month. Both features are the first major new features of Copilot+ since the launch of compatible PCs in June.

In this initial phase, the new features are only available on Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon X processor. Devices with Intel and AMD processors are currently excluded, with no expected date for support.

Microsoft did not provide details on when Recall and Click To Do will be available to all users Windows 11. Developers and enthusiasts will soon be able to see practical demonstrations of the new features on official Microsoft channels.
