Microsoft Office 2024 has been released

Office 2024 brings many updates that have been the privilege of Microsoft 365 subscribers over the past years.

The Redmond-based company last released an Office version for consumers as a separate, one-time purchase in 2021, so the new edition includes improvements to core applications, as well as improved accessibility and changes to the user interface. One of these novelties is the revised default theme, which follows the signs and principles of Microsoft’s Fluent Design style language and matches the appearance of the Windows 11 operating system.

The biggest changes affect Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook: the spreadsheet manager got a new function for handling texts and blocks, with a new image insertion option, which allows you to copy images from an Internet source. According to Microsoft, the overall speed and stability of the program have also been improved.

With a new image panel function, PowerPoint enables the embedding of a live camera image into the presentation slide, in addition, narration, animation, and separate subtitles or audio files for the inserted videos can be recorded for the presentation. And Outlook 2024 provides more relevant results with refined search when combing through content within messages, attachments, contacts and calendars.

Office 2024 requires a Microsoft account and an Internet connection, but only to install, activate, and obtain security updates. Office 2024 is compatible with Windows 10 and 11, as well as the three most recent releases of macOS, and will be available in two different editions: the $149.99 Office Home 2024 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote software.

To use the improved Outlook, you need to buy a slightly more expensive version of Office Home and Business 2024, starting at $249.99, which also includes the right to use the applications for commercial purposes.
