They have already passed several months since Microsoft began the deployment of Windows 11 24H2the most recent major update of Windows and which, as you surely remember, began to cause problems practically from the first moment, in something that unfortunately is beginning to become a tradition of the Redmond operating system. And no, I’m not exaggerating, the problems reached the point that the company had to partially pause its deployment just two weeks after its launch.
It is true, yes, that over the months some of these errors have been solved, which has allowed it to, little by little, reach more systems. Now, as you will see, I have said that some of the problems have been solved, not all, and The worst thing is that others have been appearinglike the one related to Auto HDR and Dirac Audio that we told you about in mid-December, or more recently the one related to Path of Exile, with which Windows 11 24H2 inaugurated 2025.
I am not going to list more problems (which there are) of 24H2, the previous sample is enough to reach the conclusion that we are talking about one of the worst updates (not because of its content, but because of the state in which it was published) of Windows 11, and this explains, of course, why there are so many users of this operating system that they have decided to keep in revisions 22H2 and 23H2which today are, without a doubt, much more reliable. Although, of course, this is something that Redmond does not like too much.
Thus, in response to this “resistance”, the technology company has decided to take a step to improve its adoption. And no, I would like to say that it has been to concentrate more of its resources on polishing it, but no, the solution, as far as we can read on the official website of notifications of this update, Microsoft is going to start forcing the update to Windows 11 24H2 on compatible computers that have 23H2 and 22H2. The change is that, remember, until now it was an optional update, whose installation had to be initiated by the user. Now, with this change, it will be included in automatic system updates.
Microsoft affirms, however, that this new measure will “only” reach unmanaged systems, that is, those of us who use common mortals outside of work-corporate environments. And, yes, the update can be scheduled or postponed by the user, if they wish… and they realize it, of course. And the main problem is that many people have automatic updates activated, so if they do not notice it, it is likely that they will suddenly find themselves with a major update to the operating system, which they may not have wanted.
It is legitimate, of course, that Microsoft wants users to always update to the most recent versions, in this case to Windows 11 24H2. The problem is that, since its launch and until now, it has been proven that it should never have started reaching users in its initial state, and that perhaps Microsoft has placed much more trust than it should in the Insiders program, to the detriment of having an ambitious program and a larger beta-testing team.
