Mikkey Dee, the former drummer of Motorhead, is recovering from a blood infection

Mikkey Deethe group’s current drummer Scorpions and former member Motörheadannounced that he is on the mend after spending most of the holiday season battling “a very serious blood infection (Sepsis).”

In a post on FacebookDee said he spent three weeks in a hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he had “several operations.” He thanked the doctors and nurses for their “excellent care” and said he was now home “fighting this bacterial plague,” and that “all indicators are in the right direction.”

Although he has a lot of “recovery and rehab” ahead of him, Dee is determined to get back “on the drums” for the Scorpions’ upcoming Las Vegas residency starting on February 27th.

“We have an exciting year ahead in 2025, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting shows around the world,” said Dee. “Stinger is ready and I can’t wait to see you all on tour and enjoy rock n’ roll together! I wish everyone a fantastic 2025, lots of health and lots of Rock n’ Roll!”

Dee shared more details about his experience in an interview with the Swedish newspaper The evening paper (through Billboard), pointing out that the medical crisis began with a sprained foot that quickly swelled and became infected.

“They operated right away, the first of three operations,” Dee said. “They removed what was dead, infected and infected. It wasn’t a good period… If another day had passed, I’d be playing drums with (the late Motörhead frontman) Lemmy in heaven. I can say that.”

The Scorpions Las Vegas residency will take place from February 27th to March 11th at PH Live at Planet Hollywood. After that, the group will start world tour which starts with a series of concerts in South America and continues with a summer tour in Europe.
