On Thursday, January 9, from 14:00 to 17:00, scheduled low-altitude training flights of several fighters of the allied forces of the National Armed Forces will take place in Latgale and Vidzeme, according to the municipal portal.
Low-altitude flights are the specialized military-tactical flights of military aircraft – airplanes and helicopters – that are necessary for their pilots to maintain the proficiency and appropriate capabilities required for combat and other flights, and constitute only a part of the total training flights that pilots need to fly.
Both low-altitude flights and so-called “high” flights, i.e. general and operational air traffic flights, are carried out in Latvian airspace only at the altitude and speed specified in regulations, therefore the noise generated by military aircraft is temporary. and does not cause harm to people or property.
In 2025, periodic low-altitude training flights of Allied fighters are planned in Vidzeme and Latgale. Residents should be aware that flights may cause temporary noise, so organizers ask that they be understanding of any temporary inconvenience caused.
More detailed information about low-altitude military aviation flights in Latvian airspace can be found on the website of the National Armed Forces www.mil.gov.lv.
