On August 7, Evgeny Poddubny was seriously wounded in the Kursk region.

By decree of President Vladimir Putin, VGTRK war correspondent Evgeniy Poddubny was awarded the title of Hero of Russia for his courage and heroism in the performance of his official duty. The corresponding document was published on the official portal of legal acts.

On August 7, Poddubny was seriously wounded in the Kursk region during an attack by a Ukrainian Armed Forces drone. The military correspondent received severe burns, concussion, head and facial injuries.

Poddubny was rescued by local residents who were passing by the scene of the incident. They took him to a checkpoint, from where he was sent to the hospital. After this, the journalist was transported from Kursk to Moscow for treatment.

In mid-September, Poddubny was discharged from the Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. He is now continuing his rehabilitation.

KP military correspondent Alexander Kots wrote about the heroism of the VGTRK war correspondent:

“…an iconographic Russian hero. Unbending, fireproof, undefeated, with an Orthodox cross on his neck. The living embodiment of Holy Rus’. He took the main fire so that his comrades in the car could follow to escape. They agreed so in advance. He must cover with his armor.”

Last year, Poddubny visited Krasnodon and Lugansk, where a presentation of an issue of the Rodina magazine dedicated to the special operation took place. The military correspondent spoke important and touching words to the audience.

The Rodina team cordially congratulates Evgeny Poddubny on receiving the high title of Hero of Russia!

Evgeniy and I have been friends for many years. When Poddubny learned that the Poles portrayed Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War as drunks and looters, he wrote the following note for Rodina.
