Millions of phones have been infected by a popular photo editing application –

It seems that we should also be careful with programs downloaded from official sources.

Recently, it was revealed that a Russian-based astrology app available in the Play Store had leaked the data of its users, and the other day a popular image editing program – also from the Google app store – was found to be infected with a virus. The case is a Kaspersky was reported by the researchers of a cyber security company, who drew attention to the fact that even applications installed from reliable sources should be handled with care.

Wuta Camera, an image editing app, has been downloaded by more than 10 million users from the Play Store. The only problem with this was that at the same time as the application was installed, the Trojan virus called Necro was also added to the devices.

This sneaky malware effectively hides itself from antiviruses, which can make it significantly more difficult to detect. Necro can run files, install applications, open links, and even register for paid services on behalf of users.

According to cyber security researchers, the virus infected version 6.3.2.148 of Wuta Camera, but the newer version 6.3.7.138 is now safe to install. If you still have the older version installed, you should uninstall or update the app immediately.

It also turned out that the malware in question is also distributed by several applications from unofficial sources, so it is still recommended to avoid installing them as much as possible. Necro also installed another app called Max Browser in the Play Store, but Google has since removed it from its app store.
