Currently, the range MINI can count on two crossovers such as Aceman and Countryman. But in the family of the English company there has never been room for a off road true and proper, with the exception of some concepts or one-offs.
Things could change in the coming years, with MINI of the Americas Vice President Michael Peyton telling CarBuzz how the brand is studying an off-road version of the Countryman.
L’Uncharted Edition come pioniera
Of course, there is no absolute certainty that this model will actually happen. However, it highlights the brand’s desire to push into completely new territory.
It remains to be seen whether MINI’s intention is to create a “simple” aesthetic set-up or develop a model dedicated to off-roading with many technical solutions designed to tackle the most difficult routes.
MINI Countryman Cooper S ALL4 Edizione Uncharted
Regarding the first point, the most recent example we have is the Countryman Cooper S ALL4 Uncharted Editiona special edition presented in 2023 and also sold in Italy. It is a decidedly original variant of the MINI crossover, with two-tone paint and a series of exclusive details, in addition to the presence of the 178 hp 2.0 turbo.

The new generation of Countryman could be another excellent base for building an off-road version. Starting from the engine, here too we find a 2.0 turbo, brought to 218 HP, without forgetting the declination John Cooper Works and 300 CV.

In addition to a markedly more aggressive aesthetic, MINI could intervene on the height of the suspension and tires, perhaps by mounting tires with increased blocks to improve the versatility of the model. All supported by the ALL4 all-wheel drive.
At the moment, however, these are only hypotheses. For further (official) updates we should wait for the next few months.
