Minister of Energy: We ended up using every megawatt we have at our disposal

The minister made the comments on Wednesday, at the end of the meeting with the energy producers.
“We ended up using every megawatt we have available because, unfortunately, for decades the Romanian state did not invest in the energy system”, explained Sebastian Burduja.
The Minister of Energy revealed that equipment from the communist period has now been put back into operation.
“I want to thank especially all those who in the past days made special efforts to be able to put into operation equipment, installations from decades ago in order to be able to collect tens of megawatts, hundreds of megawatts”, Minister Burduja said.
Due to the heatwave, domestic production does not cover the growing demand for energy, the state being forced to import at high prices. Also, the authorities started several coal-fired production units.
