Minister of Health ignored request for negotiation to avoid strike by INEM technicians

The Minister of Health ignored an email warning of strike from the INEM technicians’ union, which gave a ten-day deadline to negotiate with the Government.

According to the weekly “Expresso”in a note sent on October 10th, the union had indicated to Ana Paula Martins that it would call a strike on October 20th and that, until then, it would be available to talk to the Executive, with a view to receiving responses to demands.

The minister did not respond to the email. However, this Tuesday Ana Paula Martins said she was not waiting for INEM technicians.

The strike forced more than 40 emergency services in the country to stop during the afternoon shift, which worsened delays in service on line 112.

At least eight people have died in recent days due to problems and delays in contact and assistance from the national rescue network.
