Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura, important announcement about the change in the retirement age. According to her, the state thought of a mechanism, a guarantee for Romanian citizens.

“Regarding changing the retirement age, we came up with a mechanism, with a guarantee for pensioners, that the age will not increase unless life expectancy changes significantly.

It is important for pensioners to know that it is a European requirement assumed by Romania through the PNRR aimed at pension reform, which says that by 2025 the retirement age for women and men should increase in stages up to 65 years old”, said Simona Bucura Oprescu at Romania TV.

“In order not to punish women, I came up with two measures that sweeten the reform. These are aimed at ladies who have children and who will benefit from a reduction of the retirement age by 6 months for each child. If you were on parental leave, you benefit from two years of contributory pension. The activity of staying at home with the child is recognized by the Romanian state.

If someone wants to retire early, there is also a child-rearing period,” explained the minister, who clearly mentioned that no pension will be taxed except for those that exceed the threshold of 2,000 lei, which is known that they are charged 10%.

Recently, the Minister of Labor denied the rumor that pensions will be frozen after the recalculation.

“Romanians’ pensions will increase for the coming years and are not frozen at that 9.4 of GDP. We have an article in the new pension law with both the mechanism and the fact that in January they will have increases, and it is certainly very important for pensioners to know that all these things are done on time. That there is money for pensions, that retirement decisions will arrive and that all pensioners in Romania will benefit from recalculation”, concludes the Minister of Labor.

She also says that “we have money in the budget both for the increase we had from January 1 and for the recalculation for which we will pay the pensions starting in September of this year. At the moment we have the data from the pension files of Romanians in electronic format, the pension decisions are already listed.

The decisions will be listed in 3 copies, one copy will be sent to the pensioner, the other two will remain in the pension file of each pensioner”, said Simona Bucura Oprescu at Realitatea PLUS.
