While transit expert Raivo Vare finds more and more logical errors, Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Svet justifies the fact that the state-owned company Eesti Raudtee handles traffic that goes through Estonia to Russia.
After the state banned the state-owned company Operail from carrying out transportation to Russia, another state-owned company, Eesti Raudtee, quietly began to play an important role in these transportations. When Operail’s customers and shipments were transferred to Latvijas Dzelzceļš, Eesti Raudtee immediately launched a whole new department to help them, Äripäev wrote last week.
According to rail transit expert Raivo Vare, the current situation makes him laugh, cynically. Vare is amazed that, on the one hand, the state put an end to Operail’s business, and on the other, Eesti Raudtee, after Operail left the market, added to its price list the services that Operail had previously provided.
“Therefore, the motivation is so strong that all this is worth doing, although it is not usually done and should not be done according to the law,” said Vare.
Eesti Raudtee is administered by the Ministry of Climate Change. Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Svet did not give a clear answer to many questions, but added the press secretary of Eesti Raudtee to the list of recipients of his letter. Light drew a parallel with winter road maintenance.
