(Sejong = Newsis) Reporter Yeo Dong-jun = The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has decided to expand comprehensive and all-round economic cooperation in various fields, including advanced industries, on the occasion of President Yoon Seok-yeol’s visit to the Czech Republic.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 20th (local time) that a total of four MOUs were signed in Prague, Czech Republic, including the Trade and Investment Facilitation Framework (TIPF), Supply Chain Energy Dialogue (SCED), Vltava Advanced Industry Cooperation Vision, and Battery Cooperation MOU, in the presence of President Yoon and Czech Prime Minister Petr Piala.

The Korea-Czech TIPF is the 25th TIPF we have signed, and is an agreement document that clearly states the goal of expanding economic cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including trade and investment, industry, energy, and supply chains.

With the signing of this TIPF, it is expected that joint projects between industries in both countries will be supported, cooperation between industries and organizations will be promoted, and exchanges between experts will be activated.

The Korea-Czech Republic SCED is a ministerial dialogue channel specializing in supply chain and energy sectors.

In the future, director-level meetings will be held in five areas, including joint actions on trade, investment, supply chains, advanced manufacturing, carbon-free energy, nuclear energy, and entry into third-country markets.

SCED is also expected to play a key role in the future implementation of TIPF.

The Vltava Advanced Industry Cooperation Vision reflects systematic support for joint research, human resource exchange, and technology verification in advanced industries such as robots, future cars, and semiconductors.

Since both Korea and the Czech Republic have high manufacturing industries and strengths in advanced industries, mutual synergy effects are expected to be significant.

The battery cooperation MOU was signed for comprehensive cooperation in the battery sector, including exchange of market information, sharing of best practices in supply chain response, and cooperation in technology development.

As many of our automakers have already entered the Czech Republic and many of our battery companies have also entered Poland and Hungary, which are neighboring Eastern European countries, it is expected that a mid- to long-term battery cooperation ecosystem between Korea and the Czech Republic will be established based on this MOU.

In addition, an MOU was signed for cooperation in human resource development and technology exchange in the fields of batteries, robots, and future vehicles on the occasion of the Korea-Czech Business Forum and the Korea-Czech Industry and Energy Tech Forum.

Accordingly, it is expected that industrial cooperation between industries will accelerate in conjunction with the MOU between the governments of the two countries.
