The coach of the Romanian national team, Mircea Lucescu, raged after the UEFA verdict on the match between Romania and Kosovo, a match decided with a victory on the “green table” for the Romanian national team and the playing of a match on home ground without spectators. The selector also spoke about the fines that FRF collected following the incidents in the game with Kosovo.
Mircea Lucescu summed up by saying that the financial sanctions given by UEFA to the two federations are rather a political decision, considering the fact that FRF was sanctioned with fines totaling 128,000 euros, and the Kosovo federation received only 6,000 euro fine.
What Mircea Lucescu said about the sanctions dictated by UEFA after the incidents in Romania – Kosovo
Shortly after UEFA communicated the decision regarding the incidents at the Romania – Kosovo match, the selector Mircea Lucescu said that the decision to award victory at the “green table” to the “tricolors” was a fair one, but noted that the financial sanctions were a political decisionin his opinion.
“The way they behaved and the cabin they destroyed and trashed. It’s not normal, I respect the players, but they also had to respect the idea of sport.
It was normal, no other decision could be made. Any team that leaves the pitch shows disrespect and fair play.
It’s a political decision not to upset anyone. I have said since then that this is how it will happen. You don’t have to encourage this. Later, another team can do the same. Unfortunately, things happened that way.
They have to keep up, they have to be part of the football team, they have to support the team and all that.
How do I feel as a coach of the national team playing with an empty stadium. We have to think, this is the big loss.
One team made fun of us and made us sit in the cold for an hour because they didn’t want to play another two minutes. They thought they could turn this into a positive issue. Where was the racism? A lot of lies, they were not offended. The behavior was excellent”, said the Romanian coach, Mircea Lucescu, according to the report digisport.ro.
What financial sanctions have the Romanian and Kosovo federations received from UEFA
After UEFA decided to grant the victory on the “green table” to the national team prepared by Mircea Lucescu and the playing of a match at home without spectators, it also ordered the financial sanctioning of the two federations.
The Football Federation of Kosovo was fined 6,000 euros for the behavior of the national team players, who left the field before the final whistle.
Instead, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) was fined a total of €128,000 for racist and xenophobic chants – including towards Hungary, the use of lasers by spectators and the throwing of objects onto the pitch.
