DAPURPACUID – It cannot be denied that Mitsubishi Triton has become one of the successes for PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) in the light commercial vehicle segment.
Having existed since 2002 in Indonesia, this ‘worker’ pickup has been quite well received by the market, especially consumers who do business in the plantation, mining, oil and gas sectors.
In the 22-year period, Triton has recorded sales figures of up to 147,000 units, making this light commercial vehicle the largest population in the country.
This was also agreed by the General Manager of the Product Strategy Division of PT MMKSI, Guntur Harling, who said that Triton’s success was supported by three main pillars.
“Namely durability, offroad capability and ralliart. With the concept of reliable adventure products, there are four advantages, namely engine performance, offroad capability and engine,” Guntur explained.
On the other hand, Director of Product Strategic Division MMKSI, Hikaru Mii said, the presence of the latest Triton at the 2024 GIIAS event was the first to be shown to visitors and the public.
He explained that previously this product had undergone a number of tests in various terrain conditions in Indonesia, such as Kalimantan to Sumatra.
For your information, besides Indonesia, Triton is also marketed in several countries in the world including Thailand. Each country also has different contours.
“Here (Indonesia) we usually use Triton in plantation areas, coal mines, oil and gas, much tougher conditions, and so far, there have been no major problems,” Mii explained some time ago.
He explained that on the All New Triton, the manufacturer has made several modifications specifically for the Indonesian market, such as a higher alternator position, or a washer fluid tank that is higher and closer to the side of the cabin.
Likewise, the position of the skid plate is also made higher, the splash shield and chassis frame capabilities are strengthened, so that the cargo is made wider and the floor is lower.
All of these designs are able to make the All New Triton require minimal maintenance and have a lower risk of damage, as well as being more durable for a longer period.
“Such small details are important to our customers, because their demand is used to easy maintenance. If there is damage, it is easy to fix and easy to maintain,” he added.
MMKSI acknowledged that the Triton HDX type is the variant most in demand by customers, due to its toughness in facing various road conditions.
The Mitsubishi All New Triton carries the latest ladder frame with a chassis cross-sectional area of 65 percent, which makes its dimensions larger than the previous model.
This light commercial vehicle also adopts a new design, which includes Mitsubishi Motors’ signature Dynamic Shield design language on the front grille, which is reflected through the T-shaped lights.
Meanwhile, in the engine room, this pickup is equipped with a 2.4L 4N16 Euro 4 turbo diesel engine which is more powerful and efficient, with a performance reaching 183 hp and peak torque of 430 Nm.
Not only that, this car, which is widely used in mining areas, also comes with various supporting components in the cabin area, which makes its users comfortable.
