Mitsubishi Motors announces the continuation of its production offensive in Europe with another new SUV, which will be launched on the market in 2025.
The new SUV (probably based on the 441 cm long Renault Symbioz) will be equipped with gasoline and full hybrid powertrains, as well as advanced safety technologies, with integrated Google services.
This model comes in addition to the previously announced all-electric SUV. In this case, Mitsubishi will launch a model based on the electric Renault Scenic E-Tech. Details are not yet known, but a teaser released by the brand recently gives a glimpse of what’s to come.
Options will likely include 60kWh and 87kWh batteries, a 125kW/170hp single-motor version, and a 160kW/218hp dual-motor variant.
As with the ASX and Colt, Mitsubishi is likely to change the front and rear only slightly.
With the introduction of these two new models next year, the Japanese manufacturer will have a total of five models in its portfolio in the European market, in addition to the ASX, Colt and the new Outlander.
“With this approach in the largest European segment, we will offer a rich range of electrified models, covering a wide spectrum in different price segments to meet the different needs of customers,” says Frank Krol, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe. “Together with a full suite of assistance and safety technologies and integrated Google Connect, Mitsubishi Motors will take another important step towards future mobility.”
“We are very pleased to be able to further expand the brand’s position in the German market with the new Mitsubishi models,” adds Jens Schulz, Managing Director of MMD Automobile GmbH, the importer for Mitsubishi Motors in Germany. “It is also a clear commitment of Mitsubishi Motors to the European market and underlines our ambitions to successfully continue the production offensive with new, modern and attractive models in the new year”.
