I often dream of going to Dungeness. It has been like this since I first read Derek Jarman’s diary work ‘Moderne natur’ (published in 1991), which has been published in Danish in a very nice edition and translation (by K Vang) in Basilisk, a few years ago.
Just do a search on Google Maps and note that Dungeness is located at the far south-eastern tip of England. That there is a nuclear power station (Dungeness B, no longer in use), a lighthouse and a cottage called Prospect Cottage. It was there that Jarman lived from 1986 until his death from an AIDS-related illness in 1994.
