Tanasković pointed out for Blic that the goal is to welcome the Expo 2027 event in Belgrade with more modern, more efficient and safer railway.
A special focus will be placed on the modernization of railway Corridor 10 and the construction of a high-speed railway between Belgrade and Nišwhich is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region, worth 2.8 billion euros. With 600 million euros of aid for this project, the European Union proved to be the biggest donor, Tanasković stressed.
According to her, currently trains on the section between Belgrade and Niš travel for five and a half hours due to the poor condition of the infrastructure. When the construction of the high-speed railway is completed, travel time will be reduced to 100 minutes, and trains will reach a speed of 200 kilometers per hour. This will improve transport conditions, increase safety, reduce costs and contribute to environmental protection, as rail transport is the cleanest form of transport.
Tanasković also pointed out that the improvement of railway traffic will improve the connection and integration of the region with Europe.
