Mohamed al Fayed, accused of sexual abuse of female employees

Mohamed al Fayed was accused of serious sexual abuse by the lawyers of 37 alleged victims, who described him as a “monster” supported by a corrupt system at the Harrods company, writes Sky News.

At a press conference, lawyer Dean Armstrong KC said the case brings together the most troubling aspects of high-profile scandals such as Jimmy Savile, Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.

One of the victims, Natacha, told how, at the age of 19, she was lured into a toxic environment, believing she had the “chance of a lifetime” through a job at Harrods. She was subjected to sexual abuse after being called to al Fayed’s private apartment.

Another 20 women accused physical and sexual attacks, and five of them declared that they were raped. The acts would have taken place in various locations, including Harrods and the Ritz in Paris.

Lawyer Gloria Allred, known for the cases of sexual abuse she has had over time, said that most of the victims were between 19 and 24 years old and were in a vulnerable position.

Harrods said it was “stunned” and apologized to the victims, admitting that during al Fayed’s time at the helm of the company, employees were exposed to inappropriate working conditions.

Mohamed al Fayed is the father of Dodi al Fayed, who the media claimed had a relationship with Princess Diana. Both the Princess and Dodi al Fayed died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.
