Mohamed El Aiyate, driver of Olympic stars missing since August 23, has returned home

NEWS – He had been missing since August 23, but the story ended well for Mohamed El Aiyate. This former candidate for the 2024 legislative elections in Oise, who became a driver for the stars during the Paris Olympics, had not given any sign of life and his apartment had been found with the door open, his keys, his phone and his car left behind. A letter in which he confided his unhappiness had been left in evidence, noted the Picard Mail.

An investigation into a worrying disappearance had been opened by the public prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the Auneuil gendarmerie brigade. A major search operation had also been set up. But according to the Picard MailMohamed El Aiyate finally returned home on Sunday evening, September 1st. Information confirmed by Frédéric Trinh, the Beauvais prosecutor, Le Parisien points out. However, no additional information has been given.

Asked by The ParisianMylène Bapaume, friend and running mate of Mohamed El Aiyate during the 2022 and 2024 legislative elections, said she was relieved, even if she does not understand what happened. “I don’t know more, what matters is that he came back safe and sound. It’s not easy to understand, maybe he needed some perspective?”

Driver of the stars

Mohamed El Aiyate, 57, wears several hats: political figure, community activist, and professional driver. Influential in the Beauvais landscape, he was a candidate (Écologie au centre) for the 2024 European elections and the 2022 and 2024 legislative elections in the second constituency of Oise, recalls France 3.

Alongside his political career, he is a professional taxi and VTC driver. This skill allowed him to join the team of drivers for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), notes The Parisian. He had notably taken charge of footballer Zinedine Zidane, IOC President Tony Estanguet and American tennis player Serena Williams. And he was particularly responsible for the transport of Prince Faisal bin al-Hussein of Jordan during his visit to the Olympic Games.

Finally, the fifty-year-old is also very present in the associative fabric of his region: he has notably created a sports hall and a “ solidarity garage » in the Oise.
