Montenegrin police confiscated several weapons and ammunition

The Montenegrin police announced that today, as part of the campaign to suppress the abuse of weapons in illegal possession, they seized 20 weapons and more than 500 pieces of ammunition.

As reported by the Serbian press agency Tanjug, after the recent bloody attack in Cetinje, today the police conducted investigations in several locations throughout the country.

The Montenegrin police wrote in a press release that these are activities within the framework of intensified measures that the police are carrying out against members of organized criminal groups, their relatives, persons of operational interest and citizens suspected of illegal possession of weapons. They also emphasized that the police administration is intensifying activities in the fight against illegal possession of weapons and calls on citizens to take advantage of the legal option of voluntarily surrendering weapons without legal consequences and thereby contribute to the general safety of society.

Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić after the shooting spree in Cetinje, in which the attacker killed 12 people and seriously injured four others on Wednesday, announced drastic penalties for illegal possession of weapons. Protests were held in Podgorica because of the attack on Friday, and new ones have been announced.
