The Montenegrin Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Vladimir Martinović, announced the ban on light plastic bags with a wall thickness of 15 to 50 microns from October and said that during the fall he expects the implementation of key activities to fulfill the final criteria of the Action Plan for Climate Change and the Environment from Chapters 27.
Martinović said that the main advantage and novelty of the passing of the Law on Waste Management is the creation of conditions for the application of the circular economy, and a special emphasis was placed on the establishment of the Extended Producer Responsibility Program – importers and producers bear financial and organizational responsibility for the products they put on the market, including packaging , electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and accumulators, vehicles and tires, fishing equipment and single-use plastics.
He reminds that the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Inspection Supervision is currently in the parliamentary procedure.
– Well, it depends on his vote whether the environmental inspection will be part of the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, which would create the possibility for the Ministry to have an inspection through which it would control the state of the environment – pointed out Martinović.
He points out that the Law on Waste Management will prohibit the use of light plastic bags with a wall thickness of 15 to 50 microns at the point of sale of goods or products from October this year, while the use of light plastic bags with a wall thickness of up to 15 microns is permitted.
Also, a ban on the use of single-use plastic is prescribed.
