More arrested for looting businesses affected by DANA: from Madrid to rob a dealership

In a first intervention, the agents detained four men and a woman in Sedaví, between 29 and 53 years oldas alleged perpetrators of the robbery in a jewelry store in a shopping center in the Valencian town of Alfafar, which had been affected by DANA. After two house searches, numerous jewelry, high-end watches, mobile phones, video games and appliances that had been stolen from the shopping center were recovered.

Regarding this case, the investigation began when agents from the Robbery Group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade of Valencia received a complaint filed by the owner of a jewelry store affected by DANA. This woman had found the broken glass windows of his establishment -apparently with a sledgehammer- and was missing products worth more than 500,000 euros, especially luxury watches and high-value jewelry.

Thanks to citizen collaboration, the agents were able to locate five people related to these events, carrying out two entries and searches at the suspects’ homes, where they found, in addition to jewelry and watches, mobile phones, video games and household appliances, taking advantage of these catastrophic consequences to commit crimes. The detainees, some of them with criminal records, have been brought to justice.

From Madrid to a dealer

In another intervention by the National Police, a 57-year-old man has been arrested who traveled with a rental van from Madrid to rob a vehicle dealership in the Horno de Alcedo district of Valencia, taking advantage of the catastrophic situation caused by DANA. .

The events occurred yesterday afternoon, while citizen security agents were deployed in the industrial estate of this district carrying out work to prevent robberies, when they were alerted by an employee. He told them that a man was inside a dealer of a car brand taking effects repeatedly, which is why the police entered inside.

The agents found the access door forced, locating a man with a crowbar who was opening the drawers of a table, and he was immediately arrested. After police investigations, it was found that the arrested person had allegedly rented a van in Madrid to travel to Valencia to commit robberies with force.

Inside the vehicle, numerous items that had been stolen from the dealership and cash were located, such as a television, a pen drive with the dealership’s brand logo, drills, radials, batteries, heat guns, as well as other tools. After these arrests, the number of those detained so far by the National Police amounts to 98.
