Xiaomi’s first foldable clamshell smartphone, the Mix Flip, was recently presented in China and is about to arrive in Europe, according to this Bulgarian representative of the brand.
During a trip to China last week, we were able to discover the SU7 Ultra – Xiaomi’s first electric sedan – the Mix Fold, but also get our hands on the Xiaomi Mix Flip, the Chinese brand’s first foldable smartphone in clamshell mode.
And wouldn’t this trip have made less sense if this phone hadn’t been launched in Europe? On site, no representative of the brand wanted to comment on this subject, leaving us with an enigmatic “stay tuned”, which could literally be translated as “stay tuned”. On the other hand, the Mix Fold will remain confined to the Chinese market, they added. That was all it took to raise all our hopes for the Mix Flip.
Better equipped, but more expensive than a Galaxy Z Flip 6
And today, a first European country announces the upcoming availability of this foldable. It is Bulgaria that is taking the plunge. It is Nikolai Nankov, Xiaomi manager in Bulgaria, who let the news slip during a local press event.
According to him, the Xiaomi Mix Flip will indeed be launched in Europe with a first salvo in five countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The date is set, it will be August 15, and the price too: 2600 BGN, or about 1330 euros. This is more than the Galaxy Z Flip 6 which is launched at 1200 euros (2349 BGN) in Bulgaria, the same price as in France.
Xiaomi France does not confirm anything
We rushed to call Xiaomi France to get a statement on our market. Unequivocal response: “Xiaomi has not announced anything for France or internationally.” The manufacturer therefore does not confirm anything, but does not deny it either.
In any case, the Xiaomi Mix Flip made a very good first impression on us. Very large screens (6.86 inches and 4.01 inches), large battery (4780 mAh), 67 Watt charging, dual 50 Mpx sensor and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, on paper it is materially a Galaxy Z Flip 6 killer. It remains to be judged its software score. On this, Samsung has a certain lead, particularly in terms of artificial intelligence thanks to Galaxy AI.
