More rain and wind are expected for the New Year

In the last days of the year, cloudy and warm weather will remain in Latvia, and on December 31 and the first day of the new year, precipitation and wind will increase, predicts the Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology.

In the last days of December, the wind will increase and several zones of precipitation will pass through Latvia, bringing more intense rain.

On Friday, in some places, and on Saturday in many regions of the country, rain, fog and a moderate westerly wind are expected. The air temperature will be +2…+7 degrees.

On Sunday, rain is also expected at times, and the southwest, westerly wind on the coast will increase to 15-16 meters per second.

In the first half of next week, including New Year’s, precipitation will intensify and snow will fall in places, but no stable snow cover will form. The wind will continue to increase and gusts along the coast could exceed 25 meters per second on New Year’s Day.

Temperatures at night and during the day will be above zero, only in the east the thermometers may drop slightly below zero.
