More than 10,000 homes still without electricity after the Caetano storm

The warm weather does not console everyone. Despite the spectacular rise in temperatures since Thursday, around 10,000 homes are still without electricity after the passage of storm Caetano, according to network manager Enedis. “The most affected regions are Normandy (5,300) and Pays de Loire (4,700)” at 8:30 a.m., Enedis said in a press release.

Up to 270,000 homes were deprived of electricity overnight from Thursday to Friday, at the height of the storm accompanied by violent winds and snowfall. Still according to Enedis, “more than 95% of customers who had been deprived of electricity are thus replenished”.

Enedis services mobilized

“2,200 Enedis technicians and 400 service providers from across France had been pre-mobilized as part of the FIRE (Rapid Electricity Intervention Force) and are hard at work to resupply our customers,” assures the network manager of electricity. “All of our teams and those of our service providers remain mobilized and Enedis aims to resupply all customers for this evening,” promises the press release.

The storm also caused a serious accident Thursday evening on a highway near L’Haÿ-les-Roses involving a Blablacar bus, four vehicles and a motorcycle. Four people were in absolute emergency and the motorcyclist was “between life and death”, according to emergency services.
