Kia expands its range of electric cars with the Kia EV3a 4.30 meter long SUV that comes with 204 HP, two levels of autonomy and the same design as the Kia EV9, but in urban format.
With brand discounts, it is on sale for less than 30,000 eurosmaking it one of the cheapest electric SUVs on the market, despite the fact that it can offer more than 600 km of autonomy.
Four finishes and two levels of autonomy
The next few months are crucial for the electric car because the cheap electric cars that we have been waiting for so long and that are so needed to grow the sales of zero-emission cars in our market are finally arriving. We are talking about models like the Renault 5 E-Tech that is already in the pipeline or the imminent Volkswagen ID.2, utility vehicles with a starting price of about 25,000 euros.
The thing is that utility vehicles are no longer as popular as they were decades ago and now people prefer SUVs, especially the ones. urban SUVswhich are the most popular cars at the moment. Brands are aware that people are willing to pay a little more for an urban SUV than for a utility vehicle, which is why electric models are also reaching this segment.
This is the case of the Kia EV3, an electric urban SUV that measures 4.30 meters long and is positioned below the Kia eNiro, both in dimensions and price. And, with the brand’s usual discounts, It is on sale from 29,995 eurosmaking it around 5,000 euros more expensive than the basic Renault 5 E-Tech.
In return, it is larger (and more practical), more powerful and has more autonomy, so many people may find it worth the extra outlay. If, in addition, the maximum aid from the MOVES III Plan is applied, the basic Kia EV3, called Kia EV3 Air, starts to cost 22.995 euros.
We are talking about an SUV with an electric motor 204 CVfront-wheel drive and a range of 436 km in the WLTP combined cycle thanks to a 58.3 kWh lithium-ion battery.
Inside, it has five seats and a trunk with 460 liters capacityto which we must add another front one with 25 liters of capacity, just enough to store the charging cables. When charging, it can do so at a maximum power of 102 kW in direct current.
The same model is available with the basic Air finish and the 204 HP engine, but with an 81.4 kWh lithium-ion battery that allows it to have a range of 605 km approved. In this case, you can charge at 128 kW and the starting price, including discounts, but not the MOVES III Plan, is 34,770 euros. With the MOVES III Plan it costs 27,770 euros.
Above the Air finish there are three other finishes available, always with the 204 HP engine. The Earth starts at 31,495 euros with the small battery and from 36,270 euros with the large battery. One step higher is the Earth Pack Comfort, which is only offered with the large battery and starts at 37,770 euros, while the GT-line is the top of the range and starts at 41,770 euros, only with the large battery.
Among the rivals of the Kia EV3 is the MG ZS EV, which starts from the 20.480 euros with brand discounts and the MOVES III Plan included. It is, therefore, cheaper than the Korean, but it is only available with 156 HP or 177 HP and, in the best of cases, its autonomy is 440 km (the basic version is satisfied with 320 km of autonomy).
