More than 28,000 pensioners have disappeared from the CNPP registers

According to the data provided by the National Public Pension House (CNPP), in October 2024, 4,706,791 pensioners were registered in Romania, with a decrease of 28,077 people compared to September. This decrease is partly explained by the fact that the retirement files submitted under the new pension law in September have not yet been resolved by the authorities. The average pension registered during this period was 2,735 lei.

Out of the total number of pensioners, 3,782,175 people retired at the age limit, of which 2,174,353 were women. For this group, the average pension was higher, standing at 3,051 lei. This increase in the average pension reflects both the recalculations carried out under the new pension law and the indexations applied to compensate for inflation.

The total amount of pensions paid in October 2024 was approximately 12.875 billion lei, which represents a significant amount in the budget allocated to the public pension system, considering the large number of beneficiaries and the recent income adjustments.

In October 2024, 4,420 people received early pension (3,910 lei average pension), 86,975 people received partial early pension (2,736 lei, average pension) and 388,836 people received disability pension (average pension 1,123 lei ), of which 44,302 people for the first degree of disability (972 lei, average pension).

In the same month, survivor’s pension was granted to a number of 444,277 people (1,448 lei, average pension), while 108 pensioners received social aid (540 lei, on average).

11,723 service pension beneficiaries, in October 2024

The number of beneficiaries of service pensions was, in October 2024, 11,723 people, down by 54 people, compared to the previous month, of which 8,001 beneficiaries with a pension from the State Social Security Budget – BASS (contributory), according to centralized data by the National Public Pensions House (CNPP).
