More than 3200 orders for the Alef flying car

A Californian company has announced that it will soon start production of the first flying car.

Alef Aeronautics unveiled the Alef Model A flying car earlier this year, which generated huge interest. Now they have announced that they have so far received over 3200 orders for this model, whose starting price is around 300,000 USD.

PUCARA Aero and MYC with experience in the production of aerospace parts for Boeing and Airbus have launched a joint venture and signed a contract for the production of parts for Alef. The first examples of this flying car should be produced by the end of next year, it says Index.hr.

The California firm backed by Musk’s Space X unveiled its first car earlier this year – the Model A. It’s a two-seater that in road mode functions as an electric car equipped with four electric motors.

There are eight propellers in the floor under the honeycomb body. In aircraft mode, the cabin rotates 90 degrees, so the front and rear of the vehicle act as a wing. According to the manufacturer’s announcements, the car should be able to travel up to 320 km on the road and up to 180 km in the air.

Alef is also working separately on a car for four people, the Model Z, which should be launched by 2035 at a price of only 35,000 USD.
