The Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity announces that “it has completed, through the National Public Pension House, the recalculation of pensions from the public system on time”. As a result, more than 82% of pensioners in the public system will benefit from a pension increase starting this month, the ministry claims.
“Specifically, more than 3.8 million pensioners will have a pension increase from September 2024, the average increase being 26.65%. This increase is in addition to the 13.8% indexation applied on 1 January 2024 to all pensions, resulting in a cumulative increase of more than 40% for most pensioners this year. We emphasize that no pension is reduced. Even if the recently received recalculation decision shows a lower amount than the August 2024 pension, the most favorable amount is maintained, i.e. the pension in payment”, the Ministry of Labor announced on Sunday.
For those who benefit from the social allowance for retirees, if the recalculation decision indicates a value lower than 1,281 lei, they will continue to receive the amount of 1,281 lei, the ministry added.
According to the mentioned source, the recalculation of pensions was carried out on the basis of three essential components: contribution points, stability points and assimilated points.
“The contribution points, determined by the amount of contributions paid during the career, had the greatest influence on the final amount of the pension. The purpose of Law 360/2023 was the recalculation on contribution and predictability for the full contribution periods to ensure the sustainability of the public pension system”, stated the Ministry of Labor.
