The garbage company Ragn-Sells announced on Thursday of last week that it will end the free transport of packages from apartment and private houses in Läänemaa, another carrier may come to Haapsallu.

Until now, the garbage company removed packaging free of charge from apartment associations that had packaging containers, and also offered a packaging or yellow bag service to private houses. However, on May 2, the garbage company announced that it will end the service from June 1 and that the packaging will be removed for the last time in Läänemaa in May. The company also takes away packaging containers from apartment associations. “In the worst case, the packages have to be taken to public collection points for half a year,” Haapsalu Deputy Mayor Helen Rammu said on Monday. “This is not a good solution.”

Even though the Ministry of Climate is preparing a waste reform that would make people sort garbage more than before, Ragn-Sells took a step back in sorting the garbage of the residents of Läänemaa. The last time the company removed packaging bags in Haapsalu was on Sunday, May 5, i.e. the end of the service
