Mota-Engil achieved a net profit of 77 million euros in the first nine months of the year, an increase of 51% in annual terms, the company said this Tuesday in a statement to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).
The construction company led by Carlos Mota dos Santos also says that revenue reached 4,146 million, an increase of 3% compared to the same period last year, when it was 4,015 million.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) recorded “robust growth” of 11% to 609 million, the company points out, leading to an improvement in profitability of one percentage point in annual terms to 15%.
The order book increased to 14.8 billion, an increase of 14% since the beginning of the year, which represents a record value, according to the company.
The increase in backlog orders was driven “by the award of large projects in the main markets”, with Mexico having a weight of 23%, followed by Angola with 22% and Nigeria with 15%, says the statement.
The company recalls that the “order book does not yet include the contract for the first section of the high-speed train (Porto-Oiã) in Portugal, nor the Industrial Engineering contracts in Côte d’Ivoire, Mali and Ethiopia signed with Allied Gold “.
By sector, Mota-Engil says that Engineering & Construction showed an increase in revenue of 4% to 3.675 million, “mainly influenced by the performance of Latin America, while Europe was impacted by the reduction in activity in Poland”.
In turn, Industrial Engineering, with eight projects underway, had revenue of 283 million, an increase of 4% year on year and “with a robust margin of 30%”.
On the negative side, the Environment area recorded a 10% drop in turnover, to 405 million, “but with a solid profitability of 21%”, impacted “by the deconsolidation, in 2024, of the industrial oils business, sold in 2023”.
As for the “guidance”, the company states that the “growth in turnover is on track to reach the 2026 target”, also seeing the “EBITDA margin gradually improving until the 2026 target”.
