Domestic. A woman in Kronoberg County is charged at Växjö District Court with gross illegal coercion and gross breach of peace, directed at her own daughter. The crimes are suspected to have been committed as part of a “rearing method”.
According to the prosecution, in September 2019 the girl was forced down with her face in horse poo.
According to the indictment, the mother, who is 45 years old, committed the crime by physically pulling the girl out of the home, pushing her to the ground and then pressing her face into the poop.
– I am accusing the mother of gross unlawful coercion against the girl for this. Otherwise, she is also charged with gross breach of the peace, where this incident is only part of that crime. Other acts that are part of the gross breach of the peace are still under investigation. There is secrecy and prosecution can tentatively be expected later this autumn, says chamber prosecutor and preliminary investigation leader Nils Eliasson at the Växjö prosecutor’s chamber.
The woman is also charged with unlawful coercion (violation of the normal degree) against a then 12-year-old stepson, because he was threatened by the woman to chase and hold the girl in connection with the horse poo incident.
– The reason why I split the prosecution is that the crime of unlawful coercion has a statute of limitations of five years, says Nils Eliasson.
The prosecutor believes that the crimes are particularly serious because they were committed by a guardian and in front of other siblings, and that they have been part of a long-term and systematic upbringing method.
The trial will include testimony from several family members and other people with knowledge of the events.
