Ducati rider Francesco Banjaya triumphed at the Malaysian Grand Prix in a head-to-head race with Jorge Martin currently leading the overall standings by 24 points.
In the penultimate race of this year’s Moto GP championship, he achieved his tenth victory of the season and postponed the decision on the champion until the grand finale, which should be held in Barcelona.
Two of the best riders this season were joined on the podium by Enea Bastianini on the second Ducati.
The race was also marked by several incidents on the track. First, after just a few corners, Jack Miller lost control and hit Fabio Quartararo’s motorcycle, and Brad Binder also took part in the incident. The Australian was quickly helped and luckily he escaped without any injuries, and the start was repeated.
Later in the eighth lap of the race, Gresini driver Marc Marquez, who was in third position, made a mistake and went off the track, which Bastianini took advantage of to take third position.
The best of the rest was Gresini’s Alex Marquez, ahead of Gas Gas rider Pedro Acosta, Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales, who defends the colors of Aprilia. Alex Rins, Marko Beceki and Augusto Fernandes also made it into the top 10, while Marc Marquez crossed the finish line in 12th place.
This year’s Moto GP championship was supposed to end with the Valencia Grand Prix from November 15 to 17, but that race was canceled due to the terrible floods in that part of Spain, so instead of Valencia, the grand finale will probably be held at the “Catalonia” circuit in the predicted term.
