Motorcyclist hit the police – gets 10 years in prison

Domestic. A 42-year-old man is sentenced to ten years in prison for the attempted murder of a policeman after an incident at a traffic control.

The incident took place on 17 April 2024 in connection with a traffic control on Viktoriagatan in Halmstad.

The man did not stop at the policeman’s sign, but drove at the policeman at high speed with a motorcycle, resulting in serious and life-threatening injuries to the policeman.

The district court has found that the prosecution is substantiated and that the act must be assessed as attempted murder. The penalty is 10 years in prison. The convicted person must also pay damages to the policeman of approximately SEK 300,000.

The man must remain in custody until the verdict becomes final.
