Mouse in food forces plane to make emergency landing

A Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) plane made an emergency landing on Wednesday after a passenger found a live mouse in his meal.

The flight was en route from Oslo, Norway, to Malaga, Spain, but diverted to Copenhagen Airport, Denmark, due to the incident on board.

The decision to divert the plane was part of Scandinavian Airlines’ procedures because the mouse posed a safety risk, company spokesman Oystein Schmidt told AFP.

Passengers left the plane in Copenhagen and continued their journey on another aircraft.

The spokesperson for SAS, the Scandinavian airline, said it was an “extremely rare” incident.

“We have defined procedures for these situations, which also include an analysis with our suppliers to ensure that it does not happen again,” highlights Oystein Schmidt.

According to the BBC, this is the second incident involving rodents on public transport in the space of a week, after a train service in southern England was suspended after two squirrels “invaded” the carriage.
