Conclusion
The Mova P50 Pro Ultra is the all-rounder for floor care. Thanks to the swiveling side brush and mop, it also vacuums and wipes in corners and edges. Thanks to its low height, it can also fit under the sofa. After the work is done, not only is the dirt in the station vacuumed up, the mops are also cleaned and dried. When vacuuming on wooden floors or similar, the mops can be released automatically beforehand, which is very practical. The station is a bit loud at times, and the humidity settings when wiping only work to a limited extent in practice. All in all, a recommendable household helper with a very good price-performance ratio.
Mova, a subsidiary brand of Dreame, offers the new P50 Pro Ultra, a vacuum-mopping robot with a station that is available for less than 1,000 euros – and with features that are otherwise only known from high-end devices. We tried out how it performs in practice.
The Mova P50 Pro Ultra comes with an automatic suction station and is quite compact, which we liked. The design is clear and modern, and the workmanship is good at first glance. The device is also delivered with two mops, a mopping plate, a dust bag, two water tanks for fresh and dirty water, cleaning agents, a washing plate filter, a power cable and an operating manual. However, a second dust bag or replacement mop are not included. With a maximum output of 19,000 Pa and an RGB camera, which can also be used for room surveillance when you are away, it is also technically well equipped.
The assembly is completed in a short time, so you can start straight away. The included cleaning agent is filled into a small tank from which the device automatically adds a small amount of water to the water when wiping. The fresh water tank holds 4 L and is simply filled with tap water, the service water tank can hold 3.5 L of water.
Installation and mapping
As usual, the robot is controlled via an app. If you want, you can also use it by voice. The setup worked without any problems in the test and the integration into the home WLAN also worked straight away. The first step is mapping, in which the robot travels through the apartment and records rooms, walls, obstacles, etc. A map is then created in the app, which can be edited individually. For example, you can include furniture such as chairs, tables or cupboards or define zones that should be off-limits to the robot.
The Mova app is clearly structured and is relatively easy to use. You can select individual rooms that should be mopped or vacuumed, schedules can be created and you can monitor the progress of the cleaning at any time. It is also possible to clean certain areas separately, for example if you have spilled a glass of juice or bread crumbs have landed on the floor.
Equipment and cleaning
The Mova P50 Pro Ultra is equipped with two rotating mops and a swiveling side brush. This means it can easily get into corners and under furniture (up to around 4 cm). Since there is only one side brush, it has to go over the floor more often until the dirt is really gone. Thanks to the relatively low height of around 13 cm (including sensor), the robot also cleans under the sofa. It also has an anti-tangle brush, making it suitable for households with animals. The robot easily overcomes smaller thresholds in the apartment, such as bathroom rails. It uses LED light to illuminate dark areas independently.
The suction result in the test was good overall, edges and corners were cleaned and even coarse dirt such as oatmeal was reliably sucked up. The wet cleaning itself also worked well, although we could detect almost no difference between the manually selectable moisture levels low, medium and wet. The obstacle detection, however, worked reliably in the test.
The automatic mop removal and attachment may be particularly interesting for carpet owners, meaning that the mops are unlatched from the station before the vacuuming process and then reinstalled. This has the advantage that the carpet stays dry.
Hot wash and dry the mops
The automatic cleaning of the mops is definitely practical. First they are washed at 75 degrees and then dried with hot air at around 45 degrees. Drying in the test took just under 3 hours, and the mops were then really dry. The whole thing prevents odors and mold formation. The drying station was just a bit noisy. The washing plate can also be cleaned automatically in the station. If the fresh water tank is empty or the service water tank is full, the Mova issues a corresponding message. However, if you only do wet cleaning every now and then, you should empty the hot water tank after each cleaning.
Collected dust and dirt is also automatically vacuumed away by the station. The dust bag has a volume of 3.2 liters. At the same time, a small 300 ml dust container is also built into the robot itself.
The integrated battery has a capacity of 5,200 mAh – that’s enough to clean the apartment once. The vacuum cleaner is then recharged in the station.
