MSI announced the handheld console class Claw 8 AI+ and a range of Copilot+ notebooks

The Claw 8 AI+ could be an interesting boost to the AMD-dominated console-class computer market, if Intel’s promises about the performance of Core Ultra 200V processors are true.

Intel has officially released the 2xxV models of the Lunar Lake, i.e. Core Ultra 2 family, and the devices using them will go on sale from September 24. MSI has been among the first to announce its own Lunar Lake products, but the IFA 2024 novelties also include Ryzen AI laptops.

Perhaps the most interesting of MSI’s novelties is the previously teased Claw 8 AI+ computer of the handheld console class, which has Intel’s new Core Ultra 200V processor beating inside. Intel’s performance promises for Lunar Lake’s Xe2 graphics controller allow us to expect a viable competitor to the market dominated by AMD’s products. In addition to a new processor compared to the first generation Claw, the Claw 8 AI+ has received another USB-C connector supporting Thunderbolt 4 technology, an improved feel for the shoulder buttons, a larger battery and a lighter charger. The Claw 8 AI+ will go on sale at the beginning of next year and will be accompanied by a month of Xbox Game Pass time.

On the laptop side, MSI is offering not only updated old familiars, but also a completely new Venture series, which brings Core Ultra 200V processors to 14″, 15.6″, 16″ and 17″ laptops. They are equipped with 16:10 aspect ratio OLED screens and a 100 watt USB-PD charging battery. Alongside it will also be the Summit 13 AI+ Evo, Prestige 13 AI+ Evo, and Prestige 16 AI+ Evo models that use Core Ultra 2 processors.

AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 series processors will be used by the new Stealth A16 AI+ models, Creator A16 AI+ models, and Summit A16 AI+ and Prestige A16 AI+. As a noteworthy point, MSI mentions that the USB4 connectors on the notebook are also Thunderbolt 4 compatible.
