The specs for MSI’s upcoming handheld, the Claw 8 AI Plus, have arrived, reports Videocardz. As the name suggests, the gaming machine will have an eight-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
MSI Claw 8 will be equipped with one of two Intel Lunar Lake system chips: either Core Ultra 7 258V or Core Ultra 7 256V. What really stands out about the MSI Claw 8, however, is its 32GB of primary memory, which is double what both the MSI Claw 7 and Steam Deck OLED offer.
Whether the Claw 8 can compete with Valve’s Steam Deck or the Asus ROG Ally X remains to be seen, however.
– MSI has a lot to prove with its previous Claw device in recent memory. It did not perform as expected and had poor battery life. That they chose to bet on Intel instead of AMD like most others can pay off if it turns out well, but it is also a risk, says SweClocker’s test editor Calle Vahlberg.
The MSI Claw 8 AI Plus is launched on Christmas Day, December 25, and has a price tag of 899 USD, which corresponds to just over 12,000 kroner including VAT.
In the same vein, MSI will also release an updated version of Claw 7, called Claw 7 AI Plus. This model will also be equipped with 32 GB of primary memory and equipped with Core Ultra 7 258V.
