Musa appeared to enjoy the attention, as he was seen shaking hands, embracing, smiling, and greeting the fans who surrounded him on the pitch and lifting him up as their national team legend.

It took the efforts of a Kano Pillars official to return to the pitch and escort the smiling Musa away from the crowd, with the diminutive winger sprinting off to the dressing room.

“We love this guy (Musa), he’s humble. Others would have come here with bodyguards or been afraid to engage with the fans, some of whom came just to see him,” a fan who identified himself simply as Umoh said.

Musa wore the captain’s armband, even though Rabiu Ali, the official team captain, was also on the pitch.
