MWC 2020 in danger | Geeks.hu

Like two days ago we reported, some major manufacturers have decided not to exhibit at Mobile World Congress this year for the safety of visitors and employees. At the same time, GSMA, which organized the event, was of the opinion that it could guarantee the safety of the visitors, so the exhibition will be held even in the shadow of the coronavirus. Well, things changed a lot in two days; on the one hand, many other exhibitors decided not to exhibit in Barcelona, and on the other hand, the city administration also contacted the organizer. According to experts, if only a few people infected with the coronavirus somehow get into the exhibition area (let’s say that the first symptoms appear during the day), then since there are so many people in a very small place, there is a greater chance that the virus will develop a local base than that it is not.

The management of the GSMA for this very reason on Friday examines the possibilities in detail – in the light of the developments, it would be surprising if, according to the decision, the organization would support the organization of the exhibition, and not that MWC should be held in the second half of the year instead of being postponed in 2020.

Update; the GSMA on Wednesday night announcedthat the Mobile World Congress will not be held in 2020.
