The Icheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 2nd that it was investigating a son in his 40s, Mr. A, who was booked without detention on charges of hiding a body.
Person A is accused of wrapping the body of his father, Person B, in plastic and hiding it in the freezer. Mr. A confirmed that he had died while visiting his father, who lived alone, in September of last year.
It was found that Mr. A stated that he committed the crime because he needed to delay reporting Mr. B’s death due to property-related issues.
Mr. A visited a lawyer and the police station the afternoon before and surrendered. Relatives reportedly reported Mr. A missing to the police this year.
The police plan to request an autopsy from the National Institute of Forensic Science to determine the exact time and cause of Mr. B’s death.
