Mysterious Lights Over Poland. Does This Puzzle Have a Solution?

Last weekend we reported that the attention of the residents of the Tri-City, as well as other regions of our country (the Facebook profile Paranormalna Polska claims to have also received reports from residents of Poznań, Częstochowa and Rzeszów), was drawn to an unusual phenomenon in the sky, and we are talking about mysterious objects that looked as if they were burning. They appeared on Friday before 7:00 p.m. and could be observed for about an hour.

An avalanche of potential solutions to the puzzle immediately started, with some users suggesting that they could have been military flaresalthough these usually burn for a shorter time than the “spectacle” was visible in the sky. Others believed it was weather balloonwhich reached such a high altitude in the dark sky that it reflected the sun’s rays, and still others pointed to space debris burning in the atmosphere.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that such lights have caught the attention of internet users, as there is no shortage of similar recordings from different parts of the world on the web – one of the latest concerns a grouping of over 100 lights over Great Britain. The fact that most of them remain unexplained adds spice to the matter.

Will it be similar with Polish ones? The trojmiasto.pl website decided to verify the most popular theories circulating on the web and asked several competent institutions for comment.i.e. rescue services, the Navy, the Border Guard or representatives of the Orlen company, which owns the drilling platforms. What did the experts say?

Orlen did not record any unusual events on its platformsbut the rescue services reported that at about that time a rescue operation was being carried out in the waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk concerning a jet ski driver who had set off from Hel and wanted to sail to Górki Zachodnie. The operation involved the Maritime Search and Rescue Service (SAR), the Border Guard and the Navy, which means a lot of equipment that can “shine”.

We decided to ask the press officer of the Naval Aviation Brigade about this matter, who confirmed that “on 20.09 (Friday) between 19:58 and 21:05 the crew on duty of the W-3 WARM helicopter from the 43rd BLotM carried out the task of searching for survivors from jet skis”. He also added that during the execution of the task it was called off because the searched were found by the SAR vessels and the Border Guard Maritime Unit taking part in the operation, but he noted that the lights were certainly not related to the action being carried out:

Later in his statement, he also addressed our question about whether drones could have been responsible for the phenomenon, especially since its wide visibility suggests that it must have been a really large object: On this day, 20.09, between 18:30 and 21:00, we had three reports of operations using an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) system in the area of responsibility of military authorities“. What does that mean? It’s not a direct confirmation, but drones are the most likely scenario at the moment.

And it seems to be confirmed by the scientific specialist in astronomy from the Gdańsk Hevelianum, Bogna Pazderska, who notes in a comment for trojmiasto.pl that “it does not look like any astronomical phenomenon known to us. Rather like a device created by human hands.”

This could mean both flying drones and the remains of rockets thrown away after take-off and burning in the atmosphere, and on Friday there were as many as four space flights, including three in China, and as we know, the Middle Kingdom – despite the enormous space progress of this country – still does not use solutions that would allow for the controlled bringing of even some fragments to Earth, so rocket fragments regularly “fall on our heads”.
