Named for whom the election of D. Trump will end badly

Political scientist Linas Kojala shared his insights on who the winners of this election are and who the luck turned away from this time.

Winners

Elon Musk. Trump did not have a close companion during the election campaign. The billionaire himself allocated at least 119 million. US dollars, and now they will pretend to implement the promise to make the state apparatus more efficient. And, of course, creating more favorable conditions with Chinese electric cars is increasingly difficult for rival Tesla.

• JDVance’as. D.Trump himself admitted that not everything was going well for his chosen vice presidential candidate. But by triumphantly entering the White House, this supporter of the president’s ideology – and a great critic of Ukraine – immediately becomes a very serious candidate for the presidency in 2028, when D. Trump will no longer be able to compete.

• Stock market. Promises to reduce bureaucratic restrictions and taxes and a clear outcome of the presidential election caused the Dow, Nasdaq, S&P 500 and other indices to jump up by 1.5-2 percent.

• US gas and oil companies. Their representatives are already talking about a “monumental victory” that will open up new opportunities to further increase US production capacity.

• Viktor Orban. More often in D.Trump’s meetings with voters, the mentioned leader of foreign states was not really present. Even close to the number of times V. Orban was referred to.

• Joe Rogan and the new generation of media. Not for nothing, right before the announcement of the results, he admitted that he was reaching a prominent and key group of Trump’s electorate – young men. podcasts host support was crucial to victory. K. Harris also communicated more often with niche broadcasters than with the mainstream media. So it was somewhat comical to watch from the sidelines as The Washington Post seethes in internal battles, what will be the significance of the decision not to express public support for K. Harris. The answer was none.

• Israel. The relationship between Benjamin Netanyahu and D. Trump is not all roses. But the head of the Israeli government really did not want to work with K. Harris, from whom he could expect less support and more pressure.

Losers

• Germany. The US trade balance with Germany was -83 billion last year. US dollars. Trump uses this as an essential criterion for evaluating the quality of relations with another country. In addition, it is difficult to imagine at least the smallest positive spark in the personal relationship between Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Trump. Germany’s chances would probably improve if the likely early federal election takes place and a Trump-like ex-businessman, Friedrich Merz, takes over as chancellor.

• Supporters of free trade. Trump promises tariffs of up to 60% on all Chinese goods, 10-20% on others. This can only be a negotiating position, especially since long-term tariffs also require congressional approval. But for German car manufacturers, for whom the US market is the most important, red lights are on. As well as the entire European economy, because Trump’s pressure can lead to a new wave of manufacturers moving to the other side of the Atlantic. Oh, this would already threaten Europe with a recession.

• Joe Biden. His political legacy hangs in the balance. And in the memory of some of his comrades, he will remain not as a leader who honorably retired from the fight for a second term, but as a politician who did it too late.

• United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Lammy. in 2018 He called D. Trump a “woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathizing sociopath.” In parliament today, his government leader has already had to answer a question about what this promises for the future US-UK diplomatic dialogue. The prime minister did not answer the question directly.

• Hollywood and pop stars. The support of Harris by Taylor Swift, Robert de Niro and others seems to have had no effect, and has only further accentuated the gap in attitudes between the elite and the masses. Especially knowing that this time D. Trump gathered a large coalition of the lowest-income American voters.
