Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said she is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s new presidential nominee.

Former Speaker Pelosi said in a statement on the 22nd (local time), “My support for Harris is official, personal, and political,” adding, “I am confident she will lead us to victory in November.”
“I have seen Kamala Harris’s strength and courage as an advocate for working families,” Pelosi said. “I have seen her fight for women’s right to choose.” She continued, “Kamala Harris is someone who has been rooted in strong values, faith, and a commitment to public service for decades. Kamala Harris is very smart as a female politician.”
Former Speaker Pelosi said the Democratic Party’s strength lies in its diversity, adding, “Now is the time for us to unite and move forward to overwhelmingly defeat Donald Trump and passionately elect Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States.”
The day before, President Joe Biden gave up his reelection bid and officially announced his support for Vice President Harris. Since then, leading Democratic lawmakers, potential presidential candidates, and big-money donors have been declaring their support for Vice President Harris, spreading the ‘Harris trend’ theory within the party. Former President Barack Obama, who has been urging President Biden to step down from behind the scenes, has not yet announced whether he will support Vice President Harris.
