On the news that there is a possibility of chaos in the capital, law enforcement forces have set up a search post in the Narayanganj section of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Passengers are being searched by stopping various transports bound for Dhaka. However, no one has been arrested so far.
The check post was set up in front of Pro-Active Hospital with signboards on the highway from Monday morning.
Going to the ground, it can be seen that around 50 members of Narayanganj District DB Police, Siddhirganj Police Station and Kanchpur Highway Police have been stationed at the signboard area since morning. Policemen are stopping almost all Dhaka-bound transport and searching the passengers. However, as a result, there was no traffic jam anywhere on the highway. Passengers and drivers are able to travel to their destinations smoothly.
After stopping the bus, during the search, a passenger of Komal minibus named Shah Alam was spoken to. He said that the administration has got a glimpse that some group will try to create chaos in Dhaka. So they told us that they have set up this check post. Checked us out, didn’t waste much time.
According to another passenger, this initiative of law and order forces is good to keep the country safe.
A driver of Rajnigandha Paribahan said that since morning law enforcement forces have been stopping the vehicle and searching the passengers as well as asking where everyone is going. However, he did not see any traffic jam on the road.
A long-distance bus driver named Yatayat said, the highway is completely empty. Passengers were searched by stopping the car for 10 minutes at the signboard area. Basically, the police are interrogating those who are suspected.
Abu Naeem, in-charge of Shimrail Highway Police Camp, said, “Our patrol team is on the highway.”
When asked about the reason for setting up the check post, Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Mamun said, ‘We have information that a group is planning to bring people from different villages and create chaos in Dhaka. That’s why we are on alert. Suspects are being searched. No one has been arrested so far.’
