NATO today called for an investigation into the cause of the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane, which killed 38 people.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and victims of Azerbaijan Airlines flight J28243,” said NATO spokeswoman Fara Dahlalah on platform X (Twitter).

She pointed out that NATO wishes a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident and calls for an investigation to be launched. The chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan said earlier today that the cause of the plane crash is still unknown.

An Azerbaijan Airlines plane was flying from the capital Baku to Grozny when it veered off course and crashed yesterday while trying to make an emergency landing near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan after flying over the Caspian Sea.

A Day of Mourning was declared in Azerbaijan today due to the plane crash in which 38 people died and 29 survived, while the cause of the plane crash is still unknown.
