Near Rennes, a 5-year-old child is shot in the head after a chase

A young boy who was in his father’s car was seriously injured by shooters in another vehicle on Saturday October 26 evening in Pacé (Ille-et-Vilaine). The victim’s vital prognosis is compromised.

A tragedy reminiscent of the death of a child in Nîmes last year. A 5-year-old child is between life and death this Sunday, October 27, after being shot in the head the previous evening in Pacé (Ille-et-Vilaine), near Rennes, reports West France. He was in his father’s car when another vehicle chased them around 10 p.m.

The occupants of the latter then opened fire several times, hitting the trunk and the rear window, and seriously injuring the boy. The victim was urgently hospitalized with his life threatening on Saturday evening, says the local newspaper. His father is unhurt.

The pattern still unclear

The hooded shooters fled and have since been actively sought. The motive for this attack is still unknown. But it took place just a few hours after another shooting in Rennes, in the Maurepas district, which allegedly resulted from a clash between two rival gangs against a backdrop of drug trafficking. Contacted by the Rennes public prosecutor’s office has not yet given details.

The Rennes research section is in charge of the case in co-responsibility with the departmental gendarmerie group of Ille-et-Vilaine, she said.
