Neither Hronek nor Nosek helped their teams win in the NHL with assists

New York – Czech defenseman Filip Hronek recorded his sixth assist of the NHL season, but he did not prevent the Vancouver hockey players from losing 3:4 at home to the New York Rangers. Florida forward Tomáš Nosek did not contribute to the victory either, the reigning Stanley Cup winners lost 3:6 in Winnipeg.

Hronek scored his seventh point of the season after just 34 seconds, when he set up a goal for his colleague from the first defensive pair Quinn Hughes. The Czech defender moved the puck from the blue line to the Canucks captain, who skated from the left circle to the center of the court and surprised goalkeeper Igor Šestorkin with a backhand.

The Rangers turned the score around in the first period, and despite Kiefer Sherwood’s equalizer, they did not let the home team back into the lead until the end of the match. Chris Kreider finally scored the winning goal of the New York team at 50:43.

Rangers had to do without Filip Chytil for the second time in a row. According to reports from overseas, the Czech attacker could return as early as Thursday in Calgary.

Winnipeg got back on a winning streak after two losses. The leading team of the competition returned Florida’s 0-5 debacle on Saturday and leads the NHL by five points. Mark Scheifele led the Jets’ win with a hat trick. Not even Nosk’s third point of the season helped the Panthers.

“I’m very lucky to be able to play with my teammates. I got three great passes, that made it a lot easier for me to get a hat-trick,” said Scheifele, who scored three goals in one game for the first time this season. In total, he had his ninth three-goal night in the NHL.

Two minutes before the end, with the score 4:3 in favor of the home team, the Panthers called off the goalkeeper during a power play, but instead of equalizing, they conceded twice from Morgan Barron’s stick. The 25-year-old striker scored the first two goals of the season and became the second player in the club’s history to score twice in one game in a weak position. He followed up with the Slovak Marián Hossa.

Winnipeg’s closest pursuer in the Western Conference remains Minnesota, which defeated St. Louis 4:2. The Czech striker, like Radek Faksa, did not score in the Blues jersey. The second most productive player in the league, Kirill Kaprizov, helped the Wild win with two goals.

Connor McDavid came within reach of the first ten points, who helped Edmonton to a 5-2 victory on the ice of Ottawa with two goals and an assist. After a slow start, the five-time winner of the Art Ross Trophy for the most productive player in the regular season of the NHL got to 24 points and is only two points behind the tenth Nikita Kučerov.

At the bottom of the NHL is still Chicago, which lost at home to Anaheim 2:3. Jason Dickinson’s two goals didn’t help the Blackhawks win either. Goalkeeper Petr Mrázek, like his counterpart Lukáš Dostál, remained only on the substitutes’ bench. Radko Gudas played over 21 minutes for Anaheim and finished the duel with one plus/minus point and four hits.
