NEM Zagreb 2024: The NEM Awards jury was presented

ZAGREB – The organizers of the NEM Zagreb 2024 event presented the members of the jury of the second edition of the competition for the best content from the CEE region – NEM Awards 2024.

Entries will be judged by a distinguished team of independent TV professionals, including Chief Content Officers, Acquisitions Managers, Executive Producers and Writers who will judge entries in all categories.

Applications are free for participants from the CEE region, and the deadlines expire in October.

Phil Nodding, screenwriter and RTS Screenplay Award winner for his first episode of the BAFTA award-winning TV series ‘Shameless’ (C4), is delighted to be joining the judging panel: “I am honored and delighted to be able to help judge the NEM Awards 2024. In my writing, producing and teaching, I have always enjoyed collaborating creatively with writers, producers and students from across Europe – so it is great to see that this year’s focus is on encouraging creative connections. I’ve written TV shows with writers from other European countries and from other parts of the UK and I’m excited to play a small part in selecting this year’s worthy winners in the completed projects category. December should be fun!”.

Jury members come from countries outside the CEE region (mainly from countries with high production capacity) in order to ensure fairness in the evaluation of applications. The award ceremony will be held during the event NEM Zagreb 2024., from December 10 to 12, 2024 at the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb, which will be visited by key actors of the TV industry in the CEE region and Europe.

The prize will be awarded in three main categories:

  • Best Pre-development Project Award for screenwriters who have an idea for a TV script in four subcategories: Scripted series, Scripted feature-length film, Documentary series/Feature-length film and Entertainment format
  • The Council of Europe Series Co-production Development Award for the development of series co-production is intended to encourage creative cooperation in series co-production and empower independent producers with a main prize of €50,000.
  • Best Finished TV Series in the CEE Awardaward for the best completed drama TV series from Central and Eastern Europe. In 2023, the finalists of this category were, in alphabetical order:

    • About the NEM Zagreb event

      NEM Zagreb is an event focused on the creation of TV series and films. The goal of the event is to connect talent with valuable opportunities, create space for new collaborations and improve the TV industry in Central and Eastern Europe. NEM Zagreb creates opportunities for new projects, jobs, co-productions between Central and Eastern European countries and co-productions between countries with low and high production capacity. It also promotes content acquisitions within and outside the CEE region, as well as European or global investments streamera into the original content of the CEE region.

      New Europe Market

      New Europe Market (NEM) is the collective name for a series of events organized by Mediavision, the Croatian marketing and TV industry agency. NEM is traditionally held in Dubrovnik, while NEM Zagreb, dedicated to television content, was held in 2019 and 2022. During three days of a rich program at the Esplanade Zagreb hotel, the event is focused on the creation of television and film content, where numerous workshops and NEM Awards are held. .
